Tricia Strickfaden
Tricia Strickfaden is passionate about painting. She is primarily a self-taught artist and is drawn to abstract expressionist modern art. Based in the Los Angeles area, LA’s hip and urban lifestyle would have a huge effect on her modern art, translating into her Urban Organics and Modernist series. Her background in modern design and interiors is evident in her work with the use of color inspired by the California lifestyle, implementation of organic gestured forms, and modern minimalistic shapes.
Her works show mid-century modern influences. Using vibrant colors with fluid, organic and geometric shapes combined with linework, the pieces show principles of postmodern design, composition and texture. Her compositions are created with multiple layers, using translucent and opaque color, allowing shapes to overlap, push behind, and pull forward, making each canvas interesting and dynamic.
Strickfaden also finds inspiration in nature, art/architecture, and everyday life. Modern masters such as Picasso, Pollock, Rothko and others, have been greatly influential. She keeps up with leading-edge design trends and color palettes. Her personal taste in style and design has evolved over the years, which also is reflected in the evolution of her paintings.
She currently shows at local charity auctions and art events. She also works closely with the interior design community as well as art consultants and galleries across the country.
